Research Facilities at the Complex Carbohydrate Research Center (CCRC) |
The Complex Carbohydrate Research Center (CCRC) is home to 15 interdisciplinary research groups. The CCRC occupies a ~140,000 sq.-ft. building specifically designed for the interdisciplinary and equipment-intensive nature of carbohydrate science. The CCRC is organized to optimize cooperation and collaboration among disciplines, both within the center and with scientists elsewhere. This state-of-the-art facility contains 32 1,200-sq.-ft. research laboratories; a 260-seat auditorium; a 1,600 sq.-ft. teaching laboratory; multiple rooms for chromatography; and specialized rooms for synthetic chemistry, mass spectrometers, and NMR spectrometers (300-, 500-, 600-, 800- and 900-MHz instruments). The CCRC also contains facilities for plant and animal cell culture, an animal holding facility, a computer center and specialized computer graphics facilities, a library, and rooms to house other widely-used, shared equipment. The building contains a state-of-the-art fiber optic network. The CCRC's 4,000-sq.-ft. greenhouse is located nearby. |
The CCRC is home to: DOE Bioenergy Science Center (BESC) The Center for Bioenergy Innovation (CBI) UGA Faculty funded by DOE-funded Center for Bioenergy Innovation (CBI) DOE Center for Plant and Microbial Complex Carbohydrate NIH National Center for Biomedical Glycomics NIH Research Resource for Integrated Glycotechnology
